On Monday, June 22, 2026, North Korea strongly condemned the United States and other Western nations, accusing them of instigating and escalating global concern over the revival of the Nazi regime. This direct criticism coincided with the anniversary of Nazi Germany's invasion of the former Soviet Union.

North Korean state media KCNA broadcasting an official diplomatic statement criticizing the interference of the United States and Western nations in the Ukraine crisis

In an article published by the North Korean state media outlet, KCNA, Pyongyang claimed that "modern Nazi forces" are re-emerging, posing a grave concern and a serious threat to the future of humanity. The news agency emphasized that the danger of this new Nazi regime is vividly manifesting through the current situation in Ukraine. North Korea added that this issue cannot be separated from the maneuvers of the United States and the West, which have been blindly defending and supporting Ukraine on the international stage.

At the same time, Pyongyang pledged to continue confronting and thwarting all imperialist attempts to revive the Nazi regime in order to protect international sovereignty, security, and justice. This critical statement is widely viewed as North Korea's attempt to help defend and legitimize Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as well as to showcase the tight-knit bond and solidarity between Pyongyang and Moscow.

As a reminder, Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941. During World War II, approximately 27 million Soviet soldiers and civilians lost their lives, and Russia continues to observe this day annually to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
